The Community Development Team supports Outback communities and organisations to deliver projects and programs that improve life in the Outback.

There are currently three Community  Development Officers, each with their own portfolio of communities. As well as working individually with their communities, the Community Development Team works together to tap into each other's expert knowledge and provide clear support on a broad range of topics and issues. These include but are not limited to:

• governance
• grant opportunities
• grant writing
• project management
• training and development opportunities
• insurance
• youth, sports and recreation.

The Community Development Team intends to have an open and engaging relationship with communities and Outback residents, and to work closely with them to represent any issues or concerns to the Authority for its consideration and action. This relationship will be built and maintained through regular visits to the regions and being readily available via telephone and email.

Mark Brown works closely with the Community Development Team in his role as Asset and Works Officer. The role involves managing the OCA’s public facilities such as aerodromes, public conveniences, community wastewater management systems (CWMS), and UHF repeater towers.
